Topic - Animal Abusers Will Be Registered In Many States
Laws regarding tracking animal abusers are becoming popular in many states. Animal offender registries are being kept by state officials just like those for sex offenders and pedophiles. Every animal abuser will have their name, date of birth, offenses, conviction and expiration dates on file. Convicted offenders will have to pay a registration fee and supply a photo. Failure to register results in a fine and prison time. There is a strong relationship between animal abuse and domestic violence. Registering those who abuse animals just may end up protecting people. Remarkably, animal abuse laws were used to protect a young girl named Mary Ellen from severe abuse in 1874. Her case gave rise to the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the first child protective agency.
