Topic - Screen time and blinking. What you need to know.
We’re working at the computer for hours on end leading to vision problems. Makes sense, right? But, the problems aren’t coming from the screen itself, but from the fact that we’re not blinking enough. Humans blink about 20 times a minute, but when we’re on the computer, that drops to just 1 to 3 times a minute. As a result, you and your kids get blurred vision, dry eyes and headaches. On the computer too long? Follow the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This gives your eyes time to rest. Have a partner who scrolls in bed? Be careful of “secondhand screen time”. And don’t rub your eyes. Using over the counter eye drops should help. See your doctor if dryness and blurry vision don’t improve after these “home remedies” and common-sense approaches.
