Topic - Pot Smoking And Gum Disease

Smoke pot on a regular basis? You’re twice as likely to develop severe gum disease such as pockets between your teeth and gums. The gums are supposed to surround your teeth firmly so that there aren’t any spaces. If you smoke pot, you’ll create pockets and pack food down into them. The food will rot, causing very painful infections and tooth loss. Treatments for periodontal disease are no fun. You’ll be spending a lot of time in the dentist’s chair. Periodontists are dentists with specialized training in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of gum disease. With all of the attention on legalizing and decriminalizing marijuana, the memory problems and severe dental disease just aren’t being discussed. Make sure your kids know the dangers. Don’t lecture them. Pictures are worth thousands of words.
